Tidal / Estuarine gate

This unique gate, the tidal gate, is used to protect inland developments from tidal flooding.

It is designed to open automatically to pass flood waters from inland runoff into an estuary or the sea. However, if the downstream saline water from the estuary or sea is greater than the upstream water level, the gate will close automatically to prevent the ingress of saline water or flooding upstream.

The tidal gate can also be operated manually to retain a full supply level (FSL) upstream if required.
