Canal regulating gate
The canal regulating gate will regulate large flows in canals as well from river off-takes into canals.
A constant downstream flow with a varying upstream head will be maintained, and it will protect an off-take canal from flooding when the river is in flood.
The canal regulating gate has a variable buoyancy tank with inflows and outflows for water to adjust the position of the gate to maintain a fixed set downstream flow.
The flow rate is maintained by a float control valve which controls the water level over or through a measuring weir or flume.
The flow rate can be changed manually or remotely.
The canal gate can also be closed fully to empty the canal for maintenance.
